Menstrual Hygiene Management Practices and Associated Factors among Primary Second Cycle Female Students in Boset District of East Shoa Zone, Oromia, Ethiopia

Background: In adolescents who experienced menstruation for the first time, menstrual hygiene management is constrained by practical, social, economic, and cultural factors such as expense of commercial sanitary pads, lack water latrine facilities, private rooms changing limited education about facts hygiene. Therefore Objective this study to practices associated among primary second-cycle female students in Boset district east Shoa zone, Oromia regional state, central Ethiopia from March 28, 2022, April 2022. Methods: School-based cross-sectional was conducted multistage random sampling technique 629 Primary second cycle. Data were collected using Self-administered pre-tested semi-structured questionnaires. The data coded, checked completeness, entered into Epi-Info-7, then exported SPSS Version 22 analysis. Bivariate multivariate logistic regression with Crude adjusted odds ratios 95% CI calculated, p-values <0.05 considered indicate statistical significance. Results: overall proportion good account 51.2% (95% CI: 47.4–55.3). This found that: being urban residence [AOR]: 1.84, (1.20, 2.80)], secondary above educational status mothers 3.399, (2.07,5.57)], receiving pocket money modes 2.19, (1.45,3.313)], freely discussing parents 3.65, (2.327,5.727)], learning school 3.12, (2.096,4.628)], presence supply compound 1.71, (1.15,2.53)] functional toilets hand washing facilities 1.789, (1.17,2.73] significant predictors Menstrual Hygiene Management Practices. Conclusion: study, practice girls low. Factors independently influencing girls’ place residence, mothers’ status, money, discussions parents, supplies, toilets, facilities. Hence students’ should give discuss their also government other stakeholders take action improve sustain supply, schools.
